Prospect Camp
Buffalo, NY

Junior Day is designed for high school softball players that want to work directly with college coaches in an on-field environment. The event is for those players who are focused on becoming college softball student-athletes or want to learn more about that process. The camp will feature quality instruction from active college coaches, verbal evaluations provided by the coaching staff through the instructional process, and a Seminar on Recruiting and the College Experience for both players and parents. The Junior Day Prospect Camp and Showcase will feature instruction on the latest technical aspects of the game. The camp is open to all high school softball players and is restricted in enrollment. The player-to-coach ratio will not exceed 8:1. These camps are in compliance with all NCAA rules.

  • The Pitching / Catching Session will run from 8:00 AM until 11:00 AM.

  • The Infield / Outfield Session will run from 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM.

  • The Hitting Session will run from 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM.

All campers and their parents from every session will have the opportunity to participate in the Seminar on Recruiting and the College Experience. This discussion will be part of each session throughout the day. Multi session registrants will only need to attend one of these discussions.

Each session will consist of instruction in the following areas; skill work, strength work, mental training, metric based testing as well as education about the recruitment process. All skill work will be in direct small groups, one-on-one or at times a large group instructional setting. The cost of the camp will be $189 for one session, $289 for two sessions or $339 for three sessions. Space is limited. These sessions are expected to fill quickly.

Our goal for a player-to-coach ratio is 6:1 but will not exceed 8:1.

ALL PLAYERS WILL RECEIVE

  • Instruction from all college coaches attending the event.

  • Opportunities to ask questions about their skills and get to know the college coaches.

  • One-on-one and small group instruction.

  • An open seminar about the NCAA recruiting process, rules, and regulations (parents are encouraged to either stay or come back for this segment. Questions are encouraged to help answer questions about the recruiting process).

EVALUATION
Players will receive verbal feedback from the different levels of college softball represented at the camp. Coaches will evaluate each player based on their experiences at their level of college softball and give feedback when appropriate. This will allow each participating softball player the opportunity to get a much clearer idea of where their skills may fit at the college level.

To encourage interaction between the coaches and players, we highly recommend players to ask questions of the staff and obtain any and all information they would like to know. The evaluation is designed to be informative but not restrictive. Each Junior Day Regional can differ slightly when it comes to the feedback given but generally speaking players will be evaluated in areas of the game such as: arm speed (velocity), ball exit speed off of bat, home to first base, and throwing accuracy. Players will also be instructed in improving the skills areas that they are having evaluated. Through dialogue with the coaches, players will be provided with information that they can use to compare and contrast where they stand with current college softball players.

WHY IS IT A CAMP AND A SHOWCASE?
Well, because it's the best of both worlds. Players want to showcase their skills to coaches, but they should also want to learn from the coaches. Coaches want to evaluate players and their skills so they can teach them appropriately, just like they do with their own players. Coaches also want to see how players react to new instruction, new techniques and how they socialize with peers and other coaches.

THE COLLEGE COACHES AT JUNIOR DAY ARE ON THE FIELD ALL DAY

JUST LIKE THEY ARE FOR THEIR OWN PRACTICES & GAMES

SEMINAR ON RECRUITING AND THE COLLEGE EXPERIENCE
The Seminar on Recruiting and the College Experience will be held during camp and is for all members of the family. The discussion will cover topics like: The NCAA Recruiting Rules, How to Promote Yourself, What Coaches Look For, The Best Way to Make a Video, What to Expect Playing College Athletics and How to Talk to College Coaches. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and will come out of the event having a much better idea of what college athletics is all about. Parents and players are encouraged to ask questions during the discussion.

This session will include advanced instruction and problem solving on all aspects of pitching including mechanics, velocity development, pitch variation, delivery tempo, and adjustments to improve command. In addition, each pitcher will have their pitches evaluated for velocity variance as well as peak velocities. We will work via lecture and drills throughout the course of the session. The catching segment will cover various drills for receiving, blocking and throwing footwork. During the skill session, pitchers and catchers will be divided into small groups, with all bullpen work being done one-on-one with the various coaches. Catchers will work in small groups with one-on-one instruction on drill work and live bullpen work. All players will be placed in small groups with other participants of similar age.

INFIELD / OUTFIELD SESSION → 11:30 AM - 2:00 PM

Each player will work individually in the "field" with the members of our coaching staff. Players will be divided into groups by age and will receive many repetitions. All players registered for this session will also be measured for various metrics relative to running and athleticism.

HITTING SESSION → 2:30 PM - 5:00 PM
This session will focus on sound fundamental techniques of hitting via lecture, tee work, dry swing breakdown, side/front toss, and live hitting in the cage. Each hitter will work individually in the cages with the members of our coaching staff. Hitters will be divided into groups by age and will receive many swings. UNIOR DAY SOFTBALL | REFUND POLICY

Upon registering, 25% of the camp tuition is considered a non-refundable deposit. The remaining portion of camp tuition can be refunded if requested one month prior to the original scheduled date of camp, using the local time of the camp for official time. (Example: A June 15th camp will have a refund deadline of May 15th). Since space is limited, no refunds will be given after this date for any reason. After the refund deadline, a full camp credit will be held for the registered player and no cash refunds will be given. At no point will more than 75% of the camp tuition be refunded.

You must use the "Contact Us" link on the camp's website to request a refund. You will receive a confirmation of your refund request within 1-2 business days. Refunds will be issued back to the card used to register within two (2) weeks of the request being sent and confirmed. Refunds will appear on your statement as a credit from “Junior Day Camps”. Camp tuition can possibly be transferred (earliest refund date applies) to a different Junior Day event if space is available. There is no guarantee as to the proximity of other sessions of Junior Day.

The coaches and instructors in attendance at the camp do not have any discretion when it comes to determining refunds. Please do not attempt to contact any of the coaches in attendance regarding refunds or insurance claims. Although it rarely happens, a coach may cancel their attendance, beyond the control of Junior Day. A coach's lack of attendance is not grounds for any type of refund. On occasion inclement weather may occur on the camp date, during the camp, immediately after the camp or prior to the camp. Every effort will be made to hold the camp regardless of inclement weather. Should the camp be impossible to hold then full camp credit will be extended to future Junior Day events either later that academic year or in future years. Inclement weather is not grounds for a refund. In addition, while it rarely occurs, if we incur technical difficulties or weather impedes the coaching staff from acquiring all metrics, that will not be grounds for refund.

Any processing fees are not refundable at any time.

UNCONTROLLABLE EVENTS & INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY

Every effort will be made to hold the camp in a safe and fun atmosphere. Should inclement weather or other uncontrollable events change the schedule prior to the day's session beginning then an update will be sent through email, text message (if possible) and updated on the camp website. Please check the camp website before leaving for camp even if the weather forecast looks good.

Should inclement weather or other uncontrollable events occur during camp which doesn't allow the day's activities to continue then it is the responsibility of the athlete’s parents/guardians to pick up their child(ren) immediately. Any major changes to the day's schedule will be updated through email, text message (if possible) and on the camp website.

If you have any questions about the refund policy, please use the "Contact Us" link on the left side of this page.

JUNIOR DAY SOFTBALL | NCAA COMPLIANCE

Like institutional camps held on an NCAA institution's campus, this non-institutional event is open to any and all participants and is only restricted by age, grade or enrollment numbers. No registrant of the camp will receive free or reduced camp tuition.

The NCAA requires its member coaches to only participate in camps that are held to these standards. This includes camps held on their own campus.

On, April 18, 2018 the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) passed new recruiting legislation. This new legislation will not impact any of the Junior Day Softball events. We pride ourselves in working closely with NCAA coaches (DI, DII, & DIII) as well as NAIA and Junior College programs.
